Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 9

Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets
Ugh. I didn’t want to have to write this blog post. I didn’t want to need to have to write it. I certainly didn’t think it would happen, but looking at what I’m about to describe in a positive light, it taught me some things about The Business.

So I’ve debated with myself over whether or not I should call any businesses out over this or if I should just leave them anonymous. I figured it wouldn’t be fair because other similar businesses might have done the same thing. I doubt it, but whatever.

Anyway, you may have noticed that robbysuave.com disappeared for exactly a month. And those were the weeks in which I was trying to get Boobs, Butts, and Feets out to the public. During the weeks or even months leading up to an album release, I’ve grown to enjoy posting about what I’m doing once a week or two. Without warning, my web host deactivated my account. This disabled my website, my e-mail, and other stuff. Lame. At this point I don’t even remember exactly how it went, but I remember a week or two before they shut me off, my work computer was blocking me from visiting robbysuave.com, saying it was infected with malware. So I contacted my host, explaining the problem, and they said there weren’t any viruses or anything. Soon after, my site is down without warning. What I’m pretty sure was days later, I got them to sort of explain what happened: that I had infected files…that was irritating for obvious reasons. But I did what I needed to do to remedy that problem in a few hours probably. But did they reactivate my account? No. Continue reading “Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 9”

Boobs, Butts, and Feets Is Now Available!

Boobs, Butts, and Feets
Hooooooooly balls! Before I talk about the good news (the album is finally released), I’ll acknowledge the fact that it’s been over a month since my last blog update and what’s been happening during that time. You might have noticed that this site was down for just about that entire time. I’ll spare you from all that drama in this post, but I’ll write about it in a future post, in case you’re interested. Anyway, so that delayed the release of the album a bit. I kind of wanted to be able to post about the album before or just after it was available for listening, so…yeah. On top of that, I ran into some weird music publishing snafu relating to Oxford commas and creative capitalization. Again, I’ll explain that in a future post. Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 6

Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and FeetsI hit a bump in the road of getting the movie samples rerecorded for the album. The peak of that bump is visible, but I’m not quite to the top yet. I didn’t want to record all the movie lines myself, because it would sound sillier than it was meant to be. While recording myself and others, it became apparent that it’s tough to mimic the audio from a movie scene accurately when you have people available to record. It’s also difficult to figure out how to arrange people to record the vocal recordings in the first place.

More than that though, I’m trying to mimic how the movie audio sounded in my songs. For whatever reason, I put weird effects on some of them so that they’d sound kind of crazy. And now it’s essentially impossible to recreate those effects. You may remember that I had this trouble with the vocal tracks. But with these movie parts, I have to record new parts in addition to screwing with them to make them sound like they did in these musical masterpieces.

Early on, months ago, I (thought I) knew which parts I wanted to record in lieu of simply eschewing them. These are ones whose absence would bother me greatly whenever I listened to these refreshed versions. It took a while, for various reasons, but I managed to obtain those recordings. New Single! Everyone I Know Is an Alcoholic

Everyone I Know Is an Alcoholic
As the days go by, I become more and more legit, for better or for worse. It’s not very punk, rebel, or renegade to release a single, but…whatever. You’re going to be able to listen to my super popular hit (in Rock Band) song “Everyone I Know Is an Alcoholic” very soon! At the end of this blog post, you’ll find links to stream and/or download it. Continue reading “New Single! Everyone I Know Is an Alcoholic”

Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 5

Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets
Sometime in December, I typed the paragraphs below. Since then, quite a lot has happened, and that will be revealed in another post. Stay tuned later in the week (probably) for that.

There’s not much to report on the status of the impending release of Boobs, Butts, and Feets. Mostly I’m waiting on getting new recordings made to use instead of the uncleared movie samples. Update on that: Getting permission to use movie samples is impossible. Bleh. So as I talked about before, there are quite a few movie samples on the album. Some are going to be taken out completely, and others are going to be re-recorded by me and a couple volunteers.

Since there’s not much new to announce about progress on the official album release, I thought I would go over some reasons why you should be interested in it. This will probably get a little market-speaky, but I’ll try to keep that to a minimum. Continue reading “Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 5”

Random Blog Post #8

Random Blog Post
Being sick sucks. Afforded an almost 2 week vacation from work during Christmastime, I was looking forward to using that period to work on lots of music stuff, mostly vocal recording. Well, having a severe cold screwed that up. Not only was my throat too sore to hardly talk, let alone sing/yell, my head was too stopped up to even hear correctly. Non-fans may swear that I’ve had that problem for years, but I assure them that’s not the case.

So yeah, lately I’ve barely been able to enjoy listening to music, not to mention make it. But it gave me the chance to do some other things. I’m getting closer to being able to unveil the official cover for Boobs, Butts, and Feets. And I’ve also been jotting down lyrical scraps and concepts for new songs. It’s hard to say how much of it will amount to much, but I’ve planned out a draft of a song of some sort that will feature acronyms. I won’t say anymore about it, but it should be funny at least. Robby Reviews the Year 2015

Robby Reviews 2015
It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these Robby Reviews posts. Aside from what I did post, by the time I had a couple more done, the things I was reviewing weren’t very new, so it seemed weird to review them.

Anyway, I don’t think I’ve ever done this, but this will be a post dedicated to my favorite things that came out in 2015: movies, music, video games, etc. For the sake of spoilers (and time), I ironically won’t include much review for any of these. Keep in mind that all of my favorite media and such may or may not mimic what most people like. Each movie/game/album title is a purchase link, to make it easier for you to buy them just because I want you to. Without further ado… Continue reading “Robby Reviews the Year 2015”

Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 4

Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets
Since the last time I posted, I haven’t made any major progress with the album, but when you’re talking about an album that was technically finished almost 8 years ago to begin with, there’s going to be a time when there’s just not that much left to do. I’m still making minute changes, but mostly what I’ve been doing is listening to the album over and over again in my car and at work, making notes to changes I want to make. Then I get home, I’ll make those changes, render out new audio files to listen to, and the cycle continues.

I’ve detailed most of what I’ve been doing in the previous entries of Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets. If you haven’t already read those, feel free to. This post isn’t really going to be about releasing the album officially; it’s going to be about why I’m doing it. Continue reading “Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 4”
