Today I’m going to talk business-y! As anyone who has listened to any of my music could tell you, it’s obvious I don’t make music to make money. I make music for myself. But through digital distribution statistics, I can see what songs are streamed and sold more than others. And it’s all pretty interesting. Continue reading “Random Blog Post #14”
Boobs, Butts, and Feets didn’t break sales records of any kind. I attribute that mostly to my lack of advertising. I’m planning on getting on that soon, but I hoped there would be more of a buzz about the without my assistance. I talked up Heat Stroke and Punk Rebel Renegade quite a bit, so the word was getting out there about those albums. My dream hasn’t been to be signed to a major record label or going on world tours. It’s been more of being some guy that an average person finds out about one of my songs organically, and then digs into the rest. Continue reading “Random Blog Post #9”
I hit a bump in the road of getting the movie samples rerecorded for the album. The peak of that bump is visible, but I’m not quite to the top yet. I didn’t want to record all the movie lines myself, because it would sound sillier than it was meant to be. While recording myself and others, it became apparent that it’s tough to mimic the audio from a movie scene accurately when you have people available to record. It’s also difficult to figure out how to arrange people to record the vocal recordings in the first place.
More than that though, I’m trying to mimic how the movie audio sounded in my songs. For whatever reason, I put weird effects on some of them so that they’d sound kind of crazy. And now it’s essentially impossible to recreate those effects. You may remember that I had this trouble with the vocal tracks. But with these movie parts, I have to record new parts in addition to screwing with them to make them sound like they did in these musical masterpieces.
Early on, months ago, I (thought I) knew which parts I wanted to record in lieu of simply eschewing them. These are ones whose absence would bother me greatly whenever I listened to these refreshed versions. It took a while, for various reasons, but I managed to obtain those recordings. As the days go by, I become more and more legit, for better or for worse. It’s not very punk, rebel, or renegade to release a single, but…whatever. You’re going to be able to listen to my super popular hit (in Rock Band) song “Everyone I Know Is an Alcoholic” very soon! At the end of this blog post, you’ll find links to stream and/or download it. Continue reading “New Single! Everyone I Know Is an Alcoholic”
It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these Robby Reviews posts. Aside from what I did post, by the time I had a couple more done, the things I was reviewing weren’t very new, so it seemed weird to review them.
Anyway, I don’t think I’ve ever done this, but this will be a post dedicated to my favorite things that came out in 2015: movies, music, video games, etc. For the sake of spoilers (and time), I ironically won’t include much review for any of these. Keep in mind that all of my favorite media and such may or may not mimic what most people like. Each movie/game/album title is a purchase link, to make it easier for you to buy them just because I want you to. Without further ado… Continue reading “Robby Reviews the Year 2015”
Since the last time I posted, I haven’t made any major progress with the album, but when you’re talking about an album that was technically finished almost 8 years ago to begin with, there’s going to be a time when there’s just not that much left to do. I’m still making minute changes, but mostly what I’ve been doing is listening to the album over and over again in my car and at work, making notes to changes I want to make. Then I get home, I’ll make those changes, render out new audio files to listen to, and the cycle continues.
I’ve detailed most of what I’ve been doing in the previous entries of Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets. If you haven’t already read those, feel free to. This post isn’t really going to be about releasing the album officially; it’s going to be about why I’m doing it. Continue reading “Bringing Back Boobs, Butts, and Feets, Pt. 4”
