Jam Session #12

Jam Sessions
It’s time for another Jam Session! This one is a little different from the usual.  It might even be less interesting to listen to, but I’ll give you some context behind it. This is a relatively straightforward, gross sounding, synthy section of a song I’m working on. The possibly-interesting tidbit to this is that most of my songs actually start out this way. A musical riff may start out as something I’m hammering out on guitar, but if I feel like it’s going to be easier to simply work it out in MIDI notes, I’ll do that.

So that’s what this is. What musical notes are here are sort of a wimpy version of what I worked out on guitar before. Rather than take the time to record a rough guitar track (which I sometimes do), I laid the musical ideas in MIDI instead. When the song is done, there will certainly be more notes, more than likely performed on a guitar.  Right now, the song is clocking in at about 2:30, which is good: I’m shooting for shorter songs. Earlier this week, I began putting lyrics to the music, and they’re a little ridiculous, in a good way. So ridiculous in fact that I might tone it down a little bit so it’s not so silly.

Anyway, so yeah, here’s a little taste of something I’m working on. If the final song turns out well, maybe it’ll be cool to listen to this little bit of it to see how it progressed.
